Types of TV crime dramas

List of different type of narrative structure within TV crime drama with examples:

-Single Drama/film: Eric and Ernie

-Soap (continuing drama): Coronation Street

-Serial: Bleak House

-Anthology series: (self containing episodes, yeah based on different characters): Heroes

-Long-form series drama: Lost

-Long-from series drama with the some narrative experimentation: 24 

Continuity Editing:

Presents text in chronological order which creates a narrative that suggests a real experience of moving trough time, even though screen time usually covers a much longer period. Audience feels comfortable with a linear progression that reflects their everyday experience.

Linear Narrative:

Has a beginning, middle and end in that order. Provides straightforward, sequential representations of events leading to a single resolution. As such, easily accessibility to audiences and are the dominant form in mainstream media representations.
